I went to the beach the other day, but I think it was the last beach day. Le sigh. My friends had these cute soft beach blankets that they found at Homesense for only $20. They’re Tommy Hilfiger and come in all sorts of adorable patterns and colours. I accidentally forgot to give mine back, so maybe I’ll just keep it. Assuming they don’t read this blog post…. JD

Toronto Life Stylebook
Exciting news for stylish Torontonians — Toronto Life launched a special fashion magazine called Stylebook.
Exciting news for Seven Dollar Pants — we appeared in the premier issue that hit shelves yesterday! We were so honoured and thrilled when writer Alex Laws approached us for an interview.
As Editorial Director Maryam Sanati put it, the book features “designers, trends, tastemakes and the shops that have advanced the sartorial pursuits of our city….a tip of the hat to Toronto’s independent and tribal fashion sense.”
We think it really encapsulates Toronto’s amazing and bustling style scene. Pick it up and check out page 122. JD & CM xo
Post work, Pre Joga
These pics were taken post work at energyXchange studio. Julie and I fell in love with the studio over the past few months and are quickly going through the 20 classes we purchased on FabFind for $18 . Ridiculous I know. Either way, when they are used up, we will continue to frequent Jana’s Joga classes. They are intense but rewarding and Jana has motivated us like no other yoga instructor.
Here I am pre joga wearing my go-to summer pants – high-waisted, seersucker H&M numbers. My jacket is from Zara and pink top was a $4 purchase from VV Boutique. Trying to wear my favorite summer pieces before the summer comes to an end. Sigh. CM

Travelling Babe
I was going through some of my California trip pics last night and thought I’d share a few. If some of the shots look gloomy, truth be told it wasn’t as sunny as I thought it was going to be. Turns out Toronto summers are pretty damn good after all. JD
Dinner in Old Town, San Diego for delicious Mexican of course.
La Jolla Beach – taken after my surfing lesson.
On the train from San Diego to LA. A relaxing and very scenic way to travel.
View from the train.
Cute yard of the ghetto apartment we were supposed to stay in. Venice Beach.
View from our room at the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Ray. From drab to fab!

The Ritz Life
After a few days spent surfing in San Diego, I headed back to LA. In a weird twist of plans, I ended up staying at The Ritz Carlton Marina Del Ray for the rest of my trip. It was BEYOND bliss! I took advantage of the lovely pool, ultra soothing hot tub, delicious watermelon water, and the gorgeous surrounding views. It really is top-notch service that makes all the difference. The staff at The Ritz were on their game at any given moment. It was the. best.
I didn’t wear much other than a bathing suit for most of the time, but I decided to pseudo dress-up for this photo. I wore my purple convertible dress from American Apparel, flowing top from H&M, floppy hat from Urban Outfitters, sunglasses from Forever 21, and sandals from Spring.

On crazy, overwhelming days, I’m going to think back to the moments I spent floating on my back, staring at the palm trees and the moon while night swimming. Great memories. JD

Stolen Crop Top
I’ve been on vacation in sunny California for the past few days, loving life, taking it all in. I spent a few days in LA and now I’m in San Diego.
I felt very Kelly Kapowski in this outfit yesterday. I stole this Esprit crop top from my cousin back in ’94. It accidentally ended up in my suitcase after a vacation we took together, so I just decided not to give it back. Every time she came to my house, I would hide it. I never even wore it, I just wanted to have it. Sorry Camille!
My vintage Levi’s jean shorts are from Penny Arcade; gold belt is from Print Fine Vintage; sunglasses are from Forever 21; and my new floppy hat is by Goorin Bros from Urban Outfitters. JD

Road Trip! Montreal
How was your long weekend? We hope you had Monday off. We both had getaways planned and mine was a road trip to Montreal, one of my favourite cities. I went for Osheaga – the 3 day outdoor music festival, but I also enjoyed a lot of the city. I’m starting to get my bearings around Montreal which really excites me.
Osheaga was a BLAST. The weather could not have been more perfect and there were over 30,000 people enjoying the sun and sounds of all the amazing bands. Highlights included Broken Social Scene, Janelle Monae, Eminem, City and Colour, Tragically Hip, The Sheepdogs, Death Cab for Cutie, and the list goes on!
Here’s a snapshot of the non-Osheaga things I did and what I would recommend for your next visit….
Stay: The Opus Hotel. This boutique hotel is in a good location and has a trendy chic vibe to it. But beware – don’t plan on getting a goodnight sleep because the party-goers at KoKo will keep you wide awake till the wee hours. Lucky for Hotel Opus, my plan was not to sleep.
Day 1 was spent wandering around Old Montreal and Old Port – the prettiest areas in my opinion, before hitting up The Scandinave Spa – which was PURE heaven! Go for a relaxing massage and then bask in the hot and cold pools, followed by relaxing stint in the appropriately titled “No Stress Zone.” After leaving the spa I felt so zen and couldn’t stop raving about the experience.

Right around the corner from the spa we ate classic poutine and sipped raspberry mojitos at Terrasse Nelligan – the roof top at Hotel Nelligan. The sun was warm and the view of the water officially put me in vacation mode.

For dinner we checked out Dominion Square Tavern, a super cool laid back restaurant that serves British infused French Canadian fare. The ambiance was perfect as the use of dim lighting and lots of candles made the room glow. The vibe was great, food superb, staff friendly, and most importantly, they played good tunes.

Following dinner we went for cocktails at La Distillerie, where they serve cocktails in mason jars. I don’t like to compare places to other cities, but it reminded me of a bar in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Very cool, and again – great tunes!

Day 2: Go for a stroll down St. Laurent and Prince Edward to stumble upon a quaint little park called….I can’t remember what it was called, but it has a beautiful fountain and everything was peaceful.
We did a little bit of shopping on St. Catherine where I found a few unique finds including a poncho for Fall. It was an impulse purchase but I don’t care because I’m pretty excited to wear it.
At night we had dinner at Le Local in Old Montreal and drinks at a very interesting spot called Le Saint Gabriel – it’s an old hotel with stone walls converted into a chic restaurant, lounge, and speakeasy in the basement. Great spot not to be missed!

We did a whole bunch more, but those are my highlights for now. If you have any suggestions for me, I’d love to know the spots you’ve checked out so I can add them to my “next time I go to Montreal” list. Merci, JD xo
