This girly brocade dress is from Zara. It makes me feel a bit like Betty Draper. It’s a sleeveless number, but to make it a bit more wearable I added a simple black cardigan from the Gap. Gold belt is from Print Fine Vintage on College street, and my bag is a vintage coach purse that I picked up from a vintage pop-up sale, also on College street. It was $5! To stick with the girly theme, I added not one but two flower corsage. Cognac booties are from Capezio (old). JD

I have to credit Christine for this outfit. On Monday she wore a cream coloured skirt and a denim bow top. When I looked in my closet yesterday morning I saw a cream coloured skirt and blue bow top. Thanks for the inspiration! My newest purchase here is my green anorak coat from M for Mendocino. It was a steal at $99, and the perfect coat to go with practically everything. JD
Skirt – Zara
Top – Joe Fresh
Coat – M for Mendocino
Scarf – H&M
Bag – Cole Haan
Belt – Vintage GAP (I’m talking 10 years old, I bought it in University)
Boots – Vintage
To kick-off Pride week, we went to the Dakota Tavern for the annual Steers & Queers Pride Party! It was a tribute to Dolly Parton featuring a variety of acts singing or lip singing to variations of Dolly songs, hosted by a Drag Queen. Best $6 cover we ever spent.
Everyone in the bar came dressed in country gear and balloons for boobs. We didn’t know what to expect and regretted our outfits since we had so many other appropriate items we could’ve worn like cowboy boots, hats, and checkered shirts. Next time!
Top from H&M, Bracelet from Banana Republic
One piece cat suit from Esprit, Belt from GAP
While Tuesday marked the first day of school for many students, for me, it was the first day of layering. How is it that Labour Day passes and instantly chilly nights and cool mornings set in? I had to layer my $35 Gap dress for my journey to and from work with my Club Monaco leather jacket and $13 H&M scarf. Boots are from Winners for $40 and tights are Hue from The Bay. CM
That’s right! Seven dollars! I found this onesie last summer when trolling the sale racks at H&M. I was drawn to its bright colour – summer at its best. I wore it with this H&M distressed denim jacket that I picked up for $20. Braided belt is a Gap sale purchase made many moons ago in Calgary. The clasp is broken so I wear it backwards and fasten it with a bobby pin. I just can’t bring myself to get rid of it. Wood necklace is Forever 21. Don’t you find that when you put a jean jacket on any outfit it instantly gives it an Americana feel? CM
The colour combination of red and yellow is a bit bold…kind of like ketchup and mustard. I normally wouldn’t marry the two but I was inspired by an outfit I saw in Anthropologie’s look book (which is always amazing by the way). It’s liberating to wear an outfit that doesn’t contain any trace of black or grey.
I bought this top from Winners a while back and it’s one of those tops that I don’t wear often, but I know better than to get rid of it. This yellow skirt is from Zara and I really like the crisp shape – it instantly gives a polished look. My belt is from the GAP and it’s one of my all time favourites. Vintage sunglasses were my grandfather’s, and my jazz booties are from Spring shoes. Wearing this outfit has got me in the mood for street meat! For those of you that don’t know, Toronto is home to countless hot dog stands throughout the city and the dogs are amazing! I’ll let you know how my first dog of the season is….excited for lunch. Happy summer days ahead! JD
PS – here is just one of the many street meat hubs in the city. I wonder how many there actually are….
On the weekend we ventured to Marben for our friend’s birthday bash. Instead of a traditional cake he had a mountain of Krispy Kreme doughnuts! We thought this was so great that we couldn’t help ourselves from eating one or two. Oh the donut guilt!
Considering the birthday party carried a 1983 theme I decided to rock my most 80′s inspired top. This white shirt purchased recently at Urban Outfitters for $38 worn with a Forever 21 necklace, $12.95 (from Spring 2009) and a hounds tooth mini from the Gap, $14.99 (purchased 4 years ago). My lipstick is my current pink favorite by Mac named Lustrous.

It’s hard to dress up in the dead of winter when all you really want to do is stay in comfy clothes and hide in your snuggie….even if you don’t have a snuggie, you’re probably thinking that’s a brilliant idea right about now.
But that only adds to the winter blues. I try to dress up in this snowy weather a few times a week and here’s one attempt. Blush tone skirt from H&M, cardigan from the GAP, lace tights from Club Monaco, necklaces from my mom, and flower from H&M. JD
Speaking of Snuggies….is THIS for real??
