Levi’s Bootcut Skinny @ Junction Flea

Yesterday I wore my Levi’s bootcut skinny jeans to the Junction Flea.  The bootcut skinny is perfect paired with flats for exploring the city on a Sunday afternoon.  I went for a 70′s bo-ho look, inspired by Stevie Nicks.  Floral top is from Skylark (my favourite store on Abbott Kinny); lace vest is from H&M, hat is by Goorin Bros., and my bag is vintage coach.  Sunglasses are from Opticianado (best eye wear store in Toronto).
The Junction Flea is Toronto’s newest outdoor antique market that happens monthly at Dundas and Keele.  It’s similar to the Brooklyn Flea and features a mix of antique decor, handmade jewelry, vintage clothing, and delicious food. It’s fab! You should definitely check it out if you like markets.
Also, keep a close eye on my Twitter feed, as I’ll be doing a contest to win a $300 gift card from Levi’s! Holla! JD

The next flea is on October 14th

Light Brite

I thought this light tunnel looked a bit like Light Brite.  I loved that toy.  This type of outfit is good for a night-time event when you want to feel dressed up but comfortable too.  Liquid leggings are from American Apparel, flowy top is from H&M, hat is by Goorin Bros., and boots are Top Shop.  JD

Never Say Never

I’m not an animal print kind of gal.  I appreciate it and like it on others, but I usually feel like an imposter when I try animal print pieces….until I bought these leopard print boots from Top Shop.  I got interested in leopard print footwear from seeing them styled different ways on the fashion blogs I look at.  I love the splash of colour on my feet. They’re fun to wear! JD

Rest of outfit:
Jacket – H&M (on sale for $30, reg $100 – deal!)
Silk boyfriend shirt – Joe Fresh
Coral t-shirt – H&M
Sunglasses – Cheap Monday
Hat – Goorin Bros.
Coral scarf – The Bay
Pants – Domino

Polka Dot Explosion

This look was inspired by a picture I saw of Alexa Chung.  She didn’t have all the polka dots going on, but it was the same idea – camel colour cardigan, jean shorts and tights.  I love finding a picture of an outfit I dig and realizing I have all similar pieces in my closet.  If you want a different feel to your weekend wear, switch to jean shorts and tights instead of wearing jeans all the time.  Actually, I used to hate this look but it grew on me.  It’s fun to try different things with your wardrobe, so why not?

Outfit details:
Cut-off jean shorts – Levi’s
Maroon belt – Joe Fresh
Polka dot top – Winners
Cardigan – Forever 21
Lace-up booties – Cole Haan
Fur collar – taken from my parka
Tights – H&M
Hat – Goorin Bros.
Purse – Vintage

Up On The Roof

We haven’t done a Friday post in a while, so it feels kinda funny, but feels good too. I don’t want this summer-time weather to leave us…it makes outside outfit shoots a real pleasure.
I bought this long pleated skirt from H&M at the start of the spring season and always paired it with a plain white t-shirt, but then I saw a girl wearing it with a leopard top and it inspired me to pair my tribal top with it (bought at Forever 21). I like it much better than the white and it worked well with my black fedora (by Goorin Bros.), Cheap Monday sunglasses, and chunky heels by Top Shop (from LAB Consignment). Have an amazing day! JD

Stolen Crop Top

I’ve been on vacation in sunny California for the past few days, loving life, taking it all in.  I spent a few days in LA and now I’m in San Diego.

I felt very Kelly Kapowski in this outfit yesterday.  I stole this Esprit crop top from my cousin back in ’94.  It accidentally ended up in my suitcase after a vacation we took together, so I just decided not to give it back.  Every time she came to my house, I would hide it.  I never even wore it, I just wanted to have it.  Sorry Camille!

My vintage Levi’s jean shorts are from Penny Arcade; gold belt is from Print Fine Vintage; sunglasses are from Forever 21; and my new floppy hat is by Goorin Bros from Urban Outfitters.  JD

The Long Skirt – Finally Found!

I have been on the lookout for a tight long black skirt FOREVER.  On the weekend, my friends’ cousin had just the one I pictured in my mind and she was kind enough to share that it came from H&M (for $49).  I love you H&M, you have almost everything that I’m looking for…thanks for being so reliable!

As in true Julie D’Uva fashion, I had to wear my new purchase immediately so I styled up a look just in time for the H.C. Sanders Launch event at the Thompson Hotel last night.  (H.C. Sanders is a German high-quality bedding company that just opened a Canadian store in Yorkville).

My new skirt is made of a thick spandex material and when I walk, I feel like a mermaid.  For the love of fashion!!
I also wore my American Apparel crop top, H&M moto jacket, H&M lace-up booties, and a selection of chain accessories. Oh, and I topped it off with another chapeau of mine.  This grey fedora came from none other than Goorin Bros.  JD

Vintage Silk Shirt

This top is from Reitmans circa 1980 something, from my aunt’s closet.  I paired it with basic leggings, a belt, oxfords, a new camel coloured purse from Cole Haan, and my favourite chapeau by Goorin Bros. Check out my vlog at the bottom if you fancy it.  JD xx

A Vancouver Sunday

I’ve been away for a few days so I must apologize for my disappearance.  I was in Vancouver and had a particularly awesome day with my BFF Christina from Rare Little Bird.  I’ve shown her picture a few times on the blog here and here.
We walked along Main Street – which is one of her favourite areas of Vancouver.  I can’t really compare it to an area in Toronto, but it reminded me of Silver Lake in LA.
We popped into some cool little vintage shops, a great boutique called Hach, and an awesome consignment shop called Front and Company.  It’s probably the best consignment shop I’ve ever been to.  They have legitimate great finds for both men and women, and it’s just a beautiful store.
We brunched at a cool place called Habit, and just walked and talked a lot. Lucky for us, the rain held off.  In Vancouver fashion, I played it casual with my Joe Fresh jeans, t-shirt, belt, and cardigan.  A full Joe outfit!  My oxford shoes are from France and my chapeau is by Goorin Bros.  Thanks for a great day Christina! Miss you much. JD xx

Cool Kat Hat

While walking though one of my favourite neighbourhoods of all-time – Kensington Market – an old man, probably around 85 years old says to me “nice hat, you look like a cool cat.”  It was too cute and made my day.  This hat is by Goorin Bros. and it reminds me of the hats my Nonno used to wear – and he was a very cool cat.  My plaid shirt came from Winners; white t-shirt and jeans are from Joe Fresh; canvas shoes are from Wal-Mart ($8!); and I picked up these sunglasses in Kensington for $5.  Gotta love the huge array of sunglasses – I get excited every time.  JD

Floral Dress + Chapeau Noir

I love wearing hats!  I have a large collection of hats and I’m always on the look out for new and interesting styles.  The fedora I’m wearing here is by Goorin Bros. and it’s great to wear when I can’t be bothered with my hair.  I got this floral dress in Amsterdam, but it’s from H&M and available in Canada too.  I thought this style wouldn’t be sold in the Canadian stores, but we really do get all the same great stuff they do in Europe.  My moto-inspired jacket is from H&M as well, and my high-heeled booties are by Dollhouse from Winners.  I might bust this look out again with combat boots or flat vintage boots.  JD
