Florals in a Vineyard

Tuesday I had mentioned that last weekend brought me to Niagara Falls and for a bachelorette party and we participated in five wine tours.  You can imagine how the rest of the evening panned out.  The plan was to dress more like you are going to the Kentucky Derby rather than a winery as sundresses and big hats were on the dress code.  I opted for goofy sunglasses instead.  I know, I’m a party pooper, but I couldn’t find a good hat!  My dress is an oldie from Forever 21 and by oldie I mean before the store came to Canada.  Shoes are from Aldo, purse is a Cole Haan sale purchase  and sunglasses are from Kensington Market.  CM

Grey Matters

I was in a wedding party last Saturday and I have to say that my bridesmaid dress was pretty good.  It’s tough to find a dress that multiple girls agree on/look good in, and there’s always drama surrounding the whole process, but this one was elegant and not too controversial.  We had them made by a dressmaker named Sue from Hamilton, Ontario.
I enjoyed the mid-grey colour because of its simplicity, and the bride picked out beautiful jewel tone bouquets that complimented it very well.  We all wore sparkly cuffs that I found at Aldo Accessories.  They were regular $50 but I happened to catch them on sale for $15 each.  Not too shabby.  My earrings came from a street vendor in New York City for $10, and my black Valentino-esque clutch is from Nine West, but I actually got it in a gift bag on Cityline once.  I wore super high heels which was kind of dumb because my feet were hidden and after the second round of pictures I was in high-heel-hurting-hell.  Every time that happens, I envision myself having to wear the orthopedic shoes my Grandma wears from Walking On A Cloud.  Slightly scary.  Send me an email if you would like the dressmaker’s info – she’s really good.  JD

PS – I’m fully aware of the giant stain down the front of my dress.  That was a result of champagne spillage from the 90s dance party on the limo bus.  Well worth it.

PPS – This last shot was taken in the courtyard at Queen’s Landing in Niagara-on-the-Lake.  It reminds me of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

Woman in a White Dress

Every once in a while, you just have to get on a train with your girlfriends and take is as far as it will take you.  In this case, it was the Go Train and we took it to Niagara Falls to celebrate my friend and bride-to-be Erin’s bachelorette party.  We toured five Niagara-On-The-Lake wineries (yes five!) and headed back to the hotel to continue our party.  We stayed at the Hilton and guess who we saw?  Pink! She was there with her handsome husband Carey Hart who was opening up another one of his Hart & Huntington tattoo parlors.  We traveled across the street to Dragonfly and can confirm what EVERYONE told us prior to our travels – it’s horrible!  Seriously, never, ever go there.  Anyhow, this is what I wore for my night out.  H&M kinda exploded all over me but how could I resist?  When I saw this picture of Miss Salma Hayek and spotted this $30 dress, there was no stopping me.  Dress, belt and headband all from from H&M total $46.  My Shoes were an early birthday gift from my Mom.  They are from Spring.  CM

Vines In Vineland

I was in a wedding party this past weekend and the rehearsal dinner was held at a beautiful winery called StoneyRidge Estate Winery in Vineland Ontario.  If you haven’t done a wine tour of the Niagara Region yet, I strongly recommend it.  Niagara-on-the-Lake is simply beautiful and there are so many wineries in the surrounding area it’s hard to keep track of them all.  One of my favourite parts of Niagara this time of year are the fruit stands you find on the road.  Ontario peaches are so perfect right now I can eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Now that’s what I call a fruit!  Anyway, I wore my BOSS Orange nautical inspired dress with my BOSS Black red patent shoes.  These two items were purchased at a special sample sale and I can tell they are going to be good staples in my closet for a long time.  They’re not trendy or classic, but just all around good pieces.  The dress was $90 (regular $695) and my shoes were $65 (regular a lot more).  My grandfather’s stylish shades worked well with this look – thanks Gram-pa-pa.  JD
