Closet Find – The Long Skirt

A while back I showed you a few pieces I took from my Aunt’s closet over Thanksgiving weekend.  I scored an awesome purse here, and a silk shirt here.

This long floral skirt was found in her closet as well.  It was a few sizes off so I had it taken to the tailor shop for a perfect fit.  It’s fun walking around in a long flowing skirt, and a nice change from the everyday wardrobe.

I paired it with my H&M lace-up booties ($69), top from Joe Fresh ($12), and boyfriend blazer from Suzy Shier ($30).  I added gold buttons to the blazer to give it a little somethin’ extra.  My belt is vintage.  What do you think about the long skirt trend – ugly or cool?  JD

Moto-Pretty

If ever you are looking for the perfect outfit to transition from a bikers Harley to the office this is the one.  I was almost hoping, on this particular morning walking to work, that a bad-a#@ biker was going to pull up beside me and say, “Wanna ride sweet thing?”.  I would have put on my pink helmet and been off covering the best three city blocks of my life!  Sigh, it didn’t happen.

Here I am office ready.  Jacket is from Club Monaco on Bloor Street and H&M top was purchased on Bloor.   My skirt was purchased at Suzy Shier in Calgary for $10.  Shoes were found at The Bay in Burlington for $12 and necklace is from Forever 21 on Yonge Street for $8.  CM

Thirteen Dollar Pants

I was going to save these pants for warmer weather to wear with heels and bare ankles, but they seemed to work okay with my Cole Haan boots, so here’s my look – pants from Forever 21 for $13, striped shirt from Suzy Shier, blazer from Zara, necklace from Forever 21, and vintage Angelo Damiano aviator sunglasses from the 1970s. Angelo Damiano was my grandpa and these were his sunglasses! I get a lot of compliments on them and that’s what I tell people when they ask what brand of sunglasses I’m wearing. It sounds legit right? HA! JD

Gumballs & Cupcakes & Pink Drinks Oh My!

Last night The Bay on Queen Street and Fashion Magazine held an event at The Room to showcase their new contemporary space. Pink martinis were in hands while viewing the new Spring collections The Bay has to offer and let me tell you, the designers they carry are impressive!  There are seven mannequins outfitted in Sonia Rkyiel alone and the Spring ’10 Alexander McQueen collection was only steps away. We’re definitely adding The Room to our Saturday shopping trips.
I wore a metallic dress from H&M that I have been waiting to pull from my closet for  months.  My blazer is from Suzy Sheir for just $15.  Tights are from Silks.  CM
I wore a silk shirt dress from H&M with purple tights from American Apparel. My necklace is a new favourite from Forever 21 – I like that it’s chunky and looks a bit vintage. Did you notice the buttons on my sleeve? Those are actually button covers I found at a thrift store in Port Colborne. My shoes are from Payless. JD
Also, we did not leave empty-handed – we couldn’t help but buy something new for Spring – Christine’s purchase was flourescent pink and mine was a bright coral. Just sticking to the challenge from yesterday :)

Ice Fest!

Ice Fest took place in the Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood Feb. 20-21

I came dressed for the occasion in a Grandma Chic sweater that I bought years ago from a store called Neat Stuff - all you Niagara readers know what I’m talking about. My aviator hat is by Parkhurst; scarf is from Suzy Shier; legging pants are from Mendocino; boots are Steve Madden, and my belt was from a clothing swap party.

Grandma sweaters are the best. Comfy. Cozy. JD
