TO Contributor: Lindsay 2

It’s contributor Friday! Check out Lindsay’s 2nd post…

As I am new to Seven Dollar Pants I thought I would catch you up on all things Lindsay in a few quick points in no particular order.

I love a good deal.
I’m kinda obsessed with interior design and lipstick.
My dream is to own a Great Dane who will believe he is a lap dog and hang out with me on my turquoise couch.
I love a good bun, it always does the trick when I’m having a lazy hair day (the sock bun continually saves my life).
DIY arm swag is my vice.
I’m grumpy in the morning if I don’t get my Capital Espresso.
I wear boots all the time, no matter what season – they are my go to.
My real name is Jennifer, people like to call me Jenny from the block.
Outfit details: Joe Fresh shirt, Gap sweater, Top Shop jeans and boots, arm swag – combination of DIY, Top Shop and The Bay. Favorite new lipstick – Nicki Minaj by MAC.

Purple Aura

As you might have guessed, my favourite colour is purple.  My logo is purple, my iPhone case is purple, and a friend read my aura recently and told me it was purple!  I was stoked to get these purple jeans c/o Level 99.  They’re sleek, tight, but comfortable too.  My floral top is from my aunt’s closet, purse is vintage, and shoes are from Top Shop.  JD

It’s contributor Friday! Here’s a blog post from Toronto based Lindsay

It’s finally time! This week I officially packed up all my winter knits and did a wardrobe change over. I unpacked my favourite summer pieces that have been hiding in Rubbermaid containers under my bed. Do you do that too? It’s almost like getting a new wardrobe without the investment. I was pleasantly surprised to find some things I completely forgot I owned. I found a sweet red floral romper, a couple of white dresses, and this sleeveless blouse I thought had pulled a disappearing act but alas it was just tucked away waiting for the sun.

Outfit details: top – H&M, skirt – F21, silver/black wrap bracelet – Topshop, stacked rings – Philistine, purse – Rebecca Minkoff, boots – vintage from in Austin, TX. LB

Pink Lady

Speaking of leopard print tights (in my previous post), here I am wearing them again with a charcoal coloured angle cut skirt from Zara and bright pink blazer from Zara as well.  Boots are from Top Shop, and I finished the look off with a vintage belt and necklace.
My sunglasses are a new and exciting addition to my eyewear collection.  I have never owned proper sunglasses because I could never decide what to get, and I’ve always been too afraid of breaking or losing them.  This pair is from an AMAZING eyewear store called Opticianado located in the Junction.  They specialize in iconic unused vintage eyewear (mine), as well as contemporary independent designers. They have such a unique selection that definitely stands out from all the others.  Check it out at 2919 Dundas St. W.  JD

Light Brite

I thought this light tunnel looked a bit like Light Brite.  I loved that toy.  This type of outfit is good for a night-time event when you want to feel dressed up but comfortable too.  Liquid leggings are from American Apparel, flowy top is from H&M, hat is by Goorin Bros., and boots are Top Shop.  JD

Tiger Tail

Wearing an all black outfit against an orange wall reminds me of tiger tail ice cream.  I wonder if that still exists?
I’m wearing my Jason Wu for Target black pleated skirt, with a classic black turtle neck from Jacob.  To make the outfit interesting I added a flower on my neck, a gold belt, and leopard boots from Top Shop.  It’s all about the accessories.  JD

Vintage Styling

Today’s outfit

Someone told me they liked my vintage outfit today.  I took it as a compliment but actually none of it is vintage.   This skirt is a new purchase from Durumi and Chocolate Shoes – a cute little store on Queen West.  A new fave of mine.  Polka dot blouse is from Winners; vest is from H&M;  silk scarf is by Dion Neckwear; and my leopard boots are from Top Shop.  Cheers! Never Say Never

I’m not an animal print kind of gal.  I appreciate it and like it on others, but I usually feel like an imposter when I try animal print pieces….until I bought these leopard print boots from Top Shop.  I got interested in leopard print footwear from seeing them styled different ways on the fashion blogs I look at.  I love the splash of colour on my feet. They’re fun to wear! JD

Rest of outfit:
Jacket – H&M (on sale for $30, reg $100 – deal!)
Silk boyfriend shirt – Joe Fresh
Coral t-shirt – H&M
Sunglasses – Cheap Monday
Hat – Goorin Bros.
Coral scarf – The Bay
Pants – Domino

Up On The Roof

We haven’t done a Friday post in a while, so it feels kinda funny, but feels good too. I don’t want this summer-time weather to leave us…it makes outside outfit shoots a real pleasure.
I bought this long pleated skirt from H&M at the start of the spring season and always paired it with a plain white t-shirt, but then I saw a girl wearing it with a leopard top and it inspired me to pair my tribal top with it (bought at Forever 21). I like it much better than the white and it worked well with my black fedora (by Goorin Bros.), Cheap Monday sunglasses, and chunky heels by Top Shop (from LAB Consignment). Have an amazing day! JD

Sun Lace and Paper Flowers

Someone told me I looked like Little House on the Prairie in this outfit, but CM stuck up for me and said “no, it’s a 70s inspired look.”  Thanks CM, I think so too.

I love the look of a long 70s inspired maxi dress.  I found this floral one at Forever 21 and was impressed with its quality.  I paired it with my lace vest from H&M ($39), a vintage gold belt ($10), and platform shoes by Top Shop from LAB consignment ($99).

Nail polish is Mint Candy Apply by Essie. JD

Nude and Glowing

The sun provided a nice glowing backdrop for my nude number yesterday. The last time I wore this H&M skirt I was freezing here. I cringe at the thought of wearing black tights. WORST. What a difference the heat makes.

My necklace is a new/old find from a pop-up vintage sale I came across on the weekend. They were set-up outside of Bates and Dodds Funeral Home at Queen and Strachan. I thought it was odd, but checked it out anyway. The people were nice and the necklace was $5 so I bought it and didn’t let the funeral location bother me…but you could guess what went through my head, no?

Top + Shoes
Face top is by Chole from a UK sample sale.
Platform heels are by Top Shop from LAB Consignment. JD

Power Ball: Thirteeth Floor

After the Conair beauty lounge, we made our way to Power Ball 13 – one of the city’s largest charity events in support of The Power Plant art gallery.  The annual gala raises vital funds for exhibitions and public programs.
The venue was packed with interesting people, contemporary art exhibits, DJs, and porchetta on a spit.  It was a gorgeous night so we spent most of it mingling on the outdoor patio.  Oh warm summer nights on a patio, please stay with us for a while.

Outfit details for JD:
BCBG one-shoulder dress $124
Top Shop heels $100 (from LAB Consignment)
Nine West clutch (gifted)

Outfit details for CM:
BCBG one-shoulder dress $180
Cole Haan wedges $90
H&M clutch $12

The chignon was a fun hair-do, except it was so big it stuck to the velcro tent wall, and hit the roof of the cab while getting in.

Colour Blocking

I wasn’t sure if I would take to the colour blocking trend a la Jil Sander, but after composing a few very colourful outfits – I’m now a fan.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my muted greys and tonal tans, but busting out colour with such gusto feels GREAT!  I wore this outfit last night and went out for some vino on Ossington.  While the rest of the world watched the Stanley Cup game, CM and I engaged in laughs, gossip, and shop talk.  Who won the game again?  JD

Outfit details:
Angle skirt – H&M $39
Cropped t-shirt – H&M $10
Cropped blazer – H&M $29
Platform shoes – Top Shop from LAB consignment $100
Vintage gold belt – Print Fine Vintage $10

New heels got me wobbly…I fell.

Exciting Things – Style and Music

Two exciting things we learned yesterday 1) TOP SHOP is finally coming to Canada.  Yes, we know there’s a little Top Shop boutique in Jonathon & Olivia, but that’s just a tease, we want the full-fledged thing.  Thanks to The Bay, they are opening shops inside their stores, as well as stand alone stores beginning Fall 2011!!  Can’t wait!!

2) In the music world, we’re excited that Stevie Nicks is releasing a new album on May 3rd!!!!! Can’t wait!! Secret Love is her first single, and the album is called In Your Dreams.  She’s simply amazing.  JD
