Rebel Yell

This is as bad ass as I get.  Studded gladiators, leather (faux) and gold jewelery.  When I walked out the door wearing this, my boyfriend asked if I was going to style a hip-hop video.  Hilarious.  A sarcastic hilarious.  He has so much to learn.  Everyone knows that only two gold chains wouldn’t get me on camera for even a second.  Ten is the minimum.  Oh, I would also need a big butt and unfortunately I don’t have one of those.  My faux leather mini is from H&M on Bloor for $20.  T-shirt is from Zara for $19 and gladiators are from H&M for $15.  Chain with the pearl is from VV Boutique in Calgary for $7 and the necklace with the crystal is from Forever 21 for $8.  Ray-Bans were from the Sunglasses Hut boxing day sale, they were $60.  Score!  CM

Down In Bedrock

Surprise surprise.  More leopard print… I just can’t resist.  It is my chocolate.  Shirt is $30 from H&M, jeggings are $15 from Costa Blanca and shoes are oldies from Zara.  My necklace is from Forever 21 for $4.  I think the shirt and the necklace combined makes me look like I could be on an episode of the Flintstones non? CM

Ready To Run

Julie and I had a couple of meetings to attend the other day which had us running to all ends of the city.  I wore this skirt from JCrew that I purchased from one of their outlet stores.  The best part about the skirt is that I can wear it three ways which I will be showing you in future posts.  My white blouse is a Target purchase which I bought it for less than $20 almost three years ago and it has held out longer than any my $70 Club Monaco blouses.  Sorry Club Monaco but it is true!  My shoes are Cole Haan and my crush on them grows deeper every day.  For their height they are crazy comfortable which was great for this day in particular.  If you like them but want to spend less, I came across similar ones done in funky summer colours at Aldo.  My necklace is from Aldo Accessories (still on sale!) and bracelet is from H&M Yorkdale.  Together they don’t really match but I think they work together for the outfit.  Sunglasses were $10 from a NYC street vendor and bag was a gift.  CM

Moto-Pretty

If ever you are looking for the perfect outfit to transition from a bikers Harley to the office this is the one.  I was almost hoping, on this particular morning walking to work, that a bad-a#@ biker was going to pull up beside me and say, “Wanna ride sweet thing?”.  I would have put on my pink helmet and been off covering the best three city blocks of my life!  Sigh, it didn’t happen.

Here I am office ready.  Jacket is from Club Monaco on Bloor Street and H&M top was purchased on Bloor.   My skirt was purchased at Suzy Shier in Calgary for $10.  Shoes were found at The Bay in Burlington for $12 and necklace is from Forever 21 on Yonge Street for $8.  CM

Where The Wild Things Are

Knowing I was going to pack up all my Winter coats this weekend, I decided to rock this faux fur number in my concrete jungle one last time.  Julie refers to it as my “Wild Thing” jacket and I think she is dead on.  I found it last summer at a flea market in Owen Sound, Ontario and I just love the bulky sweater-like arms.  It was priced at $5 and I snatched it up before anyone around me heard the sellers price.  The only problem is that it had that flea market smell and was quite dusty. Dry cleaning charges are the same for faux fur as they are real fur.  I was dinged with a $55 bill.  Ouch!

My messenger bag was a purchase made at the start of my first year at Western.  It is from Roots and so far it has proven to be timeless.  The classic leather brown belt is also a University oldie and it is from American Eagle Outfitters.   Goorin hat is from their men’s collection but that suits me just fine.  Leggings are from Zara on Bloor and boots are from Aldo online.

Have you seen the movie yet?  I just loved it! CM

Paper Bag Principessa

I’ve shown you this skirt before here. It’s my Joe Fresh paper bag princess skirt and is a fantastic basic that allows me to switch things up without looking like I’m wearing the same thing over. I paired it with this polka dot top and one of my favourite belts – both from MMC (my mom’s collection).


This is a great example of something ugly that I love. This belt buckle is downright hideous, but yet it just works wonderfully with so many outfits. One of my fave 80s belts!


I’m so not ready for bare legs just yet so I wore my nude fishnets instead. These are a good option when you’re sick of your wintery black and grey tights, but not brave enough to bare your gams. I also opted to wear my comfy flat jazz shoes from Century 21 because I couldn’t bring myself to wearing heels…my feet were happy. JD

I WEAR PANTS

I seem to always have problems finding pants which is probably why I never wear them.  Honestly, I wear no pants.  I wear skirts.  When I wear dress pants to work (approximately once every 2 months) my co-workers ask me, “what’s different?”.  IT’S PANTS!  They never seem to fit right but when I tried these on at Zara on Bloor Street I had to get them.  Do you envision outfits from one piece of clothing? Upon this purchase I knew what I wanted the perfect white blouse to pair with them.  After scouring the usual Bloor Street retailers, I hit up Value Village in Burlington and found this top for $3.99.  A match made in heaven.  Necklace is also from Value Village in Burlington at $6.99 and grey, suede pumps are from Nine West. 

Every year the summer rolls around I crave the middle part.

It was cool in areas without the sun so I threw on my Zara trench.  CM
