I bought this cute polka dot dress from H&M last week. It’s feminine and girly but I decided to make it casual with combat boots and a leather jacket. This look is more me and I was able to ride my bike around town with ease. I loved this random alley we stumbled upon. It reminded me of Brooklyn, or a set for West Side Story. I just love being casual! It makes me so happy. For a city stroll in the sun the other day, I wore my Second Denim Yoga Jeans in black. They’re comfortable but not bummy. The best. I also wore my fringe top from Urban Outfitters, denim shirt from Zara, and vintage finishing touches – Cowgirl boots from a Thrift store in Port Colborne ($10), cashmere touque from my dad, and aviator sunglasses from my grandpa…they’re from the 70s and I love them. As soon as I saw this horse top at H&M I had to have it. I don’t even like horses, I just liked the pattern, colours, and material. I’ve since seen a number of gals wearing it around the city so it’s quickly losing it’s appeal, but I’m sure I’ll continue to wear it throughout the fall season. I guess this is as animal print as I get. CM loves leopard but it doesn’t suit me, so I’m good with the horses.
I paired my new top with a blush coloured skirt from H&M, vintage purse from my mams, socks from Urban Outfitters, and cute new booties by Dollhouse – found at Winners on Bloor. My aviators are my grandpops. JD

We love these boots! Canadian boot company Cougar just launched a gorgeous remake of the iconic Pillow Boot that was born in 1976. Chances are your styling mom had a pair if you grew up in the 80s. Ours did!
This boot is what we call functional and fashionable. It’s extremely comfortable, warm, durable enough for our crazy weather, and looks pretty great too. This boot in particular is a limited edition and retails for $270, but other styles start at $225. Forget the over done Australian UGG boot, show your Canadian chops with this tan leather, calf-high lace up classic. The red lining gives it a perfect touch and looks great with the tongue out. I’ve been on vacation in sunny California for the past few days, loving life, taking it all in. I spent a few days in LA and now I’m in San Diego.
I felt very Kelly Kapowski in this outfit yesterday. I stole this Esprit crop top from my cousin back in ’94. It accidentally ended up in my suitcase after a vacation we took together, so I just decided not to give it back. Every time she came to my house, I would hide it. I never even wore it, I just wanted to have it. Sorry Camille!

What a busy few weeks it’s been with parties and dressing up. Last week, we attended the 6th annual Smut Soiree hosted by Lainey Gossip and her crew of celebrity insiders. The party organized by The Society keeps getting bigger and bigger each year which means the venue gets bigger. It was held at the Evergreen Brickworks and what a beautiful space it was. I love that it’s a mix of new and old and indoor and outdoor.
CM and I wore outfits that coordinated with each other, but we didn’t do it on purpose! This seems to happen a lot with us, kind of like twins wearing the same thing without consulting each other.
CM’s Marilyn dress came from Betsey Johnson in Maui, and my red number came from Urban Outfitters. I threw on a little jacket from H&M to add to it’s plainness. JD

It’s truly hard getting decent outfits together when it’s freezing outside. It’s so easy to fall into a hibernation rut and hide under giant sweaters and really ugly jogging pants. I know because I do it too. But I also think it’s important to give yourself little make-overs and buy something new to wear to brighten your days.
This look is a bit 70s with my floral top (Forever 21), knit vest (Urban Outfitters), and my hair parted down the middle. My Vince riding pants aren’t so 70s, but they’re warm so they are a staple for me this season.

I walked out my door the other day and this woman was setting up a small table of vintage accessories to sell. Two purses caught my eye within seconds and when she said $5 each – I said “I’ll take both of them please.” And off I trotted to the grocery store with an extra bounce in my step. The purse shown here is leather and zebra fur and it reminds me of the Deena & Ozzy Pony purse from Urban Outfitters. The other purse is a small leather messenger style, and I’ll show that in a later post. I’m also wearing a skirt as a dress from Club Monaco with a Forever 21 belt and a vintage necklace I got from a market in Belgium. Are you going to incorporate animal print to your Fall wardrobe? JD

On the weekend we ventured to Marben for our friend’s birthday bash. Instead of a traditional cake he had a mountain of Krispy Kreme doughnuts! We thought this was so great that we couldn’t help ourselves from eating one or two. Oh the donut guilt!
Considering the birthday party carried a 1983 theme I decided to rock my most 80′s inspired top. This white shirt purchased recently at Urban Outfitters for $38 worn with a Forever 21 necklace, $12.95 (from Spring 2009) and a hounds tooth mini from the Gap, $14.99 (purchased 4 years ago). My lipstick is my current pink favorite by Mac named Lustrous.
